The Jewish Community Federation provides need-based scholarships for Jewish children to attend Jewish Overnight Camps, Specialty Family Camps, organized Israel Experiences for Teens and Young Adults. All scholarships are intended to provide "last resort" community resources above and beyond what is contributed by families and individual camps/programs.

The Jewish Community Federation has partnered with Scholarship America to assist in the administration of these scholarships.

All camp and Israel trip applications can be submitted through one family registration. Review requirements that pertain to your camp or trip carefully.

Jewish Overnight Camp Scholarships
Funds for these scholarships are provided by the Jewish Community Federation. Every child deserves the opportunity to participate in camp.

The Federation provides need-based scholarships for Jewish families that live in the Federation's service area.

How to apply

Jewish Overnight Camp applications must be submitted by March 15, 2018.

Scholarship America processes financial need for all submitted applications. Non-identifying information will be released to a lay committee to determine award amounts based on financial need.

Families will be notified in May. Checks will be processed by Scholarship America. Checks will be made payable to the camp and mailed to each family's home address. Awards may only be used for camp tuition.

Specialty Camp Family Weekend Scholarships

The Federation's specialty camp scholarships are intended to provide "last resort" community resources above and beyond what is contributed by families and individual camps.

Scholarship applicants for the Grief and Growing Family Camp must apply directly through the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center by contacting Rabbi Eric Weiss.

For deadline information on single parent family camp scholarships, please contact the camp directly.

The deadline for Special Needs Family Weekends is March 15, 2018.

Israel Experiences for Teens & Young Adults
Strengthening Jewish identity and personal connection to Jewish history and culture.

Recognizing the impact of Israel travel/experiences, the Federation provides need-based scholarships for both short-term organized teen trips (first -time, grades 8-12) and five to twelve month Masa-approved Israel programs for young adults ages 18 to 26.

Deadlines

For spring break trips, online applications must be submitted by December 1, 2018.
For summer trips, online applications must be submitted by March 15, 2018.
For gap or academic year programs, applications must be submitted by May 1, 2018.

Application Procedure

Website Technical Requirements: For optimal performance this site should be viewed using a current browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled. Examples of current browsers are the latest versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. All are available as free downloads.

All correspondence throughout the application process is via email. If you do not have an email address you wish to share, you may register an address with a free service such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or Hotmail for the purposes of this application.

Be sure to add jcf@scholarshipamerica.org to your Contacts or Address Book! Parents failing to use a valid email address will not be able to access an application account. Families who do not regularly check their email for correspondence will not receive consideration.

Parents wishing to submit camp or Israel trip applications can begin the electronic application process by clicking on the Register for an Account link in the Information Links menu in the left margin. To register, you must supply a unique and valid email address and create a username and password. An email message will be sent to you verifying the email address you provided is valid. You must click a link in that message. Once you validate your email address you will then have access to your family account.

When in the application process, you may leave the site at any time by clicking on the Logout link located at the top of the left margin. To return to your account, you must enter the username and password as provided when you registered.

You may wish to gather the following information that will be necessary for the application:

Carefully review all data before submission. All pages must be completed and entered in the format described in order to submit the application. Proper punctuation and standard capitalization (Jill Smith, 10 Main Street, New York, NY) must be used when entering data. Once a camp or trip application is submitted, no further additions or changes can be made.

Pages 1 & 2 of your family's federal 2016 tax return must be mailed to:

Scholarship America will email acknowledgment of receipt of all submitted applications. Applications found to be incomplete as of the application deadline will not be processed.

All information submitted is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship America. Only non-identify information is released to lay committees and the Jewish Community Federation.
